The world is a mirror: How to understand yourself more deeply through the tension in your life.

Sant pere de Ribes, Spain

We live in a very dynamic world where the currents of emotions, thoughts, and actions can keep us ungrounded and in fear. When we are ungrounded, we are susceptible to the influence of the external world. Rather than looking within for clarity, the outside world tempts us with the illusion of finding worth and security in material things or other people to “feel” better about ourselves. Similarly, the outside world also teaches us to blame everything on everyone else rather than going within to understand our participation in the experience. There is this constant battle occurring which distracts us from truly listening to the voice of our heart and following the wisdom within.

Each trigger, whether it’s a person, conversation, experience, is a reflection of something within us that is waiting to be acknowledged. There are parts of our psyche which hold wounding and have been buried deep within or pushed aside in order for us to continue with our lives. There are several survival mechanisms the ego engages in to preserve itself. The ego has learned to either ignore personal trauma by burying it deep inside, or it will attach itself to the pain in order to believe it is entitled to behave as a victim or tyrant. Another common way the ego participates in self betrayal is to divert uncomfortable feelings into some kind of self soothing addiction which keeps the feelings just below the surface.

When we become aware of our feelings in the moment, we are tuning into valuable information. This is not about feeling amazing and perfect all the time, this is deeper, to live authentically from our unique soul perspective that embodies our physical being. The importance is to learn to pause and cultivate the ability for micro-self reflections. To tune into our divine self guidance system and become our own mother, father, parent, friend, ally. When we nurture ourselves and hold space for the feelings without trying to erase them and fix anything, we are creating an awareness of who we truly are on a soul level. Allowing a slowing down and acknowledgment of what is happening within is a key component of self navigation. From this point, there are bountiful ways to track, connect, and heal what is operating under the surface.

This is where our true power lives, in our ability to understand where we are stuck and shift into a flow state. In this space, the world indeed becomes a mirror once again and we illuminate our divine purpose in what our souls came here to learn and share.
