Acknowledging the darkness within

Reflection in San Sebastian, Spain

There is within me an energy which longs to erupt, destroy, bubble up in rage, stamp its feet in indignation, recreate drama passed down from generation to generation.

While my ego stalks me, silently watching me, tricking me into a false sense of passivity, my dialogue deceives me with emotional talk tales of why I should protect and defend myself. In an instant I am pulled away from the present moment. My attention distracted by the entanglements of past and future, my ego delighted in the aftermath of a silent war fought deep within my subconscious.

In the unconscious, the non-verbal memories activate throughout the ancestors awaiting opportunity to elevate.

Within all of us there is an energy which waits for us, stalking us while we are awake just as persistent as when we are asleep.

In dreamtime are we more fortified? Are we in a space of the immaterial where we see more clearly our path and lines of experience leading us to waking reality?

The path of humility is one we all walk on. Some will pretend their feet do not touch this ground and pretend they will not have to face the truth of their becoming. Others stay stuck, knees to mud, overwhelmed by the gravity of the challenge it takes for the soul to evolve.

To be in the present moment, to attune to the natural world which functions without ego gets tougher everyday. The noose and noise of the world grows stronger and we must be at full attention to what lives inside of us.

We can’t escape this, but we can be aware of how to make profound changes within. Each of us carries the energy to destroy or purify. It takes tremendous attention to choose the one which leads us on a path of serenity. And the other? Well that’s presents as the easiest route. But never really is.
