Hearing and Listening, which do you choose?
A llama listens and observes, does not make sudden moves, but remains still until called
Hearing and listening both travel into our consciousness, but one has the power to soak into our awareness. When we hear, we acknowledge. We hear on the surface, the sound, the words, the emotions. To hear something means we can usually name it, repeat it, and move on. It is an act, an automatic check list.
Listening is a different matter. It is a bigger vessel with deeper resources. In the art of listening there is a field of resonance which opens up for us. If we receive it. If we pause long enough in our momentum of doing. To listen is to be fully present. When we listen, we become still. Our focus tracks the information which assist us in tracking the path and direction of our divine nature.
Listening is a skill which we develop with the assistance of discernment. Do you see how they develop together? We must first discern if we are truly listening or if we are engaged in the act of hearing. Next we call in discernment while we are listening. Is what we are listening to feeding our Spirit? Or is it drawing ourselves away from ourselves? No judgement, no emotion, no riling up, just observation to where there is flow and where there is not. No need to panic, free will is always at our fingertips. Observe how the body/pulse responds, how the heart responds, the mind. Watch these systems of engagement speak to what kind of energy is around. Tap in to the under layer beyond this, to where the voices of your ancestors guide you. You are surrounded by support.
To be present and choose to listen centers us to a space of receiving. Here again we choose how to receive what we are receiving. Wisdom shared whether profound or not is important in aligning one’s spirit and soul with the rhythm of the earth. All knowledge is available to be gathered and sorted. Choosing to listen brings us closer to Source.
